The most common question we get asked here at Fresh Smiles is “
how long it will take to straighten teeth?
” Of course that can be a tricky question to answer! It really depends on your individual treatment plan and the type of treatment you need. But there are a few tips that can hasten up the time needed to get you that brand new smile! Here are some of those handy hints and tips your orthodontist suggests to improve treatment time for all patients who want a fresh new smile!
If you need to wear braces, that’s the wires and braces that fit permanently over your teeth and can’t be removed, there are a few things you need to consider. Firstly make sure you look after your oral hygiene. Having healthy gums means that we won’t need to remove the braces or appliance before treatment is complete. If braces need to be removed for general dental work such as fillings and cleans, it will delay treatment and you will need to leave those braces and wires on for a longer period!
Avoid eating hard foods, you know; lollies, chocolates, nuts, toffee! You need to watch what you eat to ensure wires and brackets don’t break. Most patient’s don’t know that each lose bracket can add on an extra month to your treatment time.
Another common question we often get asked is “how long do braces take?” This is also an interesting question because often there is better treatment option to help straighten your teeth. We recommend the Invisalign clear braces system. This treatment using the Invisalign clear or invisible braces is a much more convenient way to straighten your teeth, used in conjunction with the VibrPro5 System your treatment can be speeded up dramatically.
VibraPro5 is an innovative orthodontic device that uses high frequency vibrations to help speed up tooth movement by stimulating the bone during Orthodontic treatment.
When used in conjunction with Invisalign, the VibraPro5 can cut your treatment time in half, which means instead of wearing each clear or Invisible Aligner for 2 weeks at a time you only need to wear each Clear Aligner for 1 week before changing to the next.
Finally, make sure you always book your next appointment before leaving the clinic. This will help with making sure your appointments are always scheduled on time. Please try to avoid cancelling appointments.
If you have any question or concerns in regards to how your treatment is coming along, be sure to call our reception team and ask questions. We are always happy to book you in for emergency appointments to make sure everything is okay and tracking on time.
If we pick up on issues sooner than later they will be easier to fix and we won’t be delaying treatment later on down the line.
