Contrary to popular beliefs, your first orthodontic consultation is nothing to be nervous about, especially with Fresh Smiles Orthodontics. The consultation takes only thirty minutes and you will be a step closer to achieving the beautiful and healthy smile you are looking for. Here are some tips on what to expect on your first consultation.

Meet the team
Your first orthodontic consultation is an opportunity to learn the differences between braces, retainers, or the Invisalign treatment and to start a treatment plan that fits your particular dental needs. At Fresh Smiles Orthodontics, you will be welcomed into a warm and supportive environment filled with skilled specialists that will be happy to discuss any questions you have about your treatment goals or the dentistry industry.

First check in with the receptionist who will let the staff know that you have arrived and feel free to ask any questions while we review your dental and medical history. Meet the Fresh Smiles team!

Pictures and X-rays

Next, it’s time to get to know your teeth from every angle imaginable. Sit back, relax, while our orthodontist take pictures of your teeth and jaw from various angles. You will also take X-ray pictures that the orthodontist will refer to throughout your treatment to analyse the progress you’ve made.

Although it is usually done in the second visit with your orthodontist, you may also create molds of your teeth. The process takes about 2 minutes for the paste to set and your orthodontist will now have an exact representation of your jaws and teeth, from top to bottom.

Get to know your orthodontist

Meet your orthodontist and take this opportunity to really get to know each other and what to expect throughout this journey towards a beautiful and healthy smile. Together you will build a

treatment plan based on your individual needs that will cover how long the treatment takes, what costs to expect, and the insurance options or payment plans available.

What’s next?

After less than an hour, you now have X-ray pictures, a review of your dental and medical history, and an idea of the costs to expect during treatment. If you have not done the mold of your jaw in your first orthodontic consultation, expect to get it done on the second visit, about two weeks after the initial consultation. At your second visit, your orthodontist will share with you a treatment planning process.

You have met the team and the comfortable environment, now it’s time to decide if you still want to make the dream of having a beautiful and healthy smile a reality.
